Most riders prefer to bring their own bike, which is quite easy to do. Use a bike bag or obtain a cardboard box (free) from your local bike dealer. To pack, simply lower the saddle and turn the handle bars sideways. We also suggest removing pedals and detaching the rear mech, and using extra cardboard, bubble wrap and pipe insulation as extra protection. To be on the safe side, you might also want to bring a spare mech hanger out with you. Please also bring 3 spare inner tubes and spare brake pads.
It is advisable to check with your airline or travel agent, as carriers have diferent rules about transporting boxed bikes. Some allow you to book your bike on in advance, normally for a fee, others carry bikes for free, but may not have space on the day.
